You guys think the HL2 Mod Maker's book will be worth it?

    http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/235497.asp

Its official title is the "Half-Life 2: Mod Makers Prima Strategy Guide"

set to come out this May. I saw a post here about the folks asking when it was coming out.

Sorry, Should have edited the title of the Poll better.

Some say, Nah, other's say Yeah - as it beats searching goolge for all the tutes, now there all in one place.

I find some good tutes, but literally spend a good hour searching for the basic ones. Learning how to script so that monsters don't see you in the shadows is fun, but not if I can't even make a basic room

I want to learn from the ground up so I can make movies for you guys, like my the ones for Hitman! (For those that have never seen them, search for my username to see my posted movies in WIP)

But what do you guys think?

Without more details of it's content it's hard to say.

$30 is a reasonable price for the book if it is as good as it could be...but on the other hand, a good 2 hour vtm from buzz may tell you everything the book does.

When it comes out I may flip through it but until some really detailed beginner tut's come out then I am going to remain king noob!

I tend to agree. But with how busy Buzz is, I wouldn't mind buying the book until the VTMs come out. I find lots of tutes, but they are not in one place.

Buzz's VTMs are just the best hands down!

Im looking forward to any books on game modding, and ive got this on preorder, but I think Buzz,Joel and Zacks new Unreal book has just raised the bar somewhat. If this HL2 book is too skinny or just glossy pictures with no informative content...it might look a bit sucky next to the Biblical Epic they have created. And there's a volume 2 coming on coding methinks

Time-Life should do a series of books on HL2 modding, just like those handy-man books they make!

i'm not sure if i would count on the book coming any time soon. valve can't seem to meet a deadline to save their lives, and the book has been delayed first from november to feburary, and now again to may.
they were able to get "raising the bar" out on time to toot their own horn.
i'm more than a little peeved at valve about the whole thing.
