Well, I have a system in the works at the moment. I'll be ordering the parts soon for it, but here are the specs:

    Dual Opteron 250 (2.4GHz w/ 1MB L2 cache)
    2GB ECC Registered PC3200 memory
3D Labs Wildcat Realizm 200 (512MB onboard VRAM)
    160GB primary hard drive
400 GB spare storage (3 200GB hard drives in RAID 5 with 1 hot spare)
    Redhat Enterprise Linux WS3 Primary
Microsoft Windows XP Pro SP2 secondary
550Watt Enermax server class power supply

Don't know about you, but other than gaming, I think this system has the upper hand.

EDIT: Just a tidbit of info for ya. I assume when you say Athlon 64bit 3.4, you mean the Athlon64 3400+. That processor clocks in at 2.4GHz and has a 512KB L2 cache on board, and a limited ammount of hypertransport pipes compared to the Opteron line.

    Fastest for what?

Pentium 4, 3.something (I think 2 or 4) gigahertz, 2 gigs of memory, and the geforce 6800 GT

It's not better than yours, but I thought I'd brag about the nvidia geforce 6800

sorry mate, need a bit more to beat me, lol

    system specs.

    dual xeon @ 2.8ghz
    2GB ram
    2 x 36GB scsi hdd
    NVIDIA Quadro FX3400 video card

rendering with MAX comparison on my P4 2.8ghz single processor with 1 GB ram, ATI AX800 pro.

Single scene fairly complex with lights etc 38 minutes

rendered on new system: 5 minutes 10 seconds with hyperthreading, 5 minutes 56 seconds without hyperthreading
I was once a small cog in the machine.

    I am now the machine

Yeah, what do you mean by fastest? Since we're on a 3D site, what about rendering. Bet my old machine will kick your machines butt

    Dual MP 2800's
    2 gig PC2100 Reg ECC
    Geforce 6800.

That rig your looking at engyma will be awesome. Something close to what i'll be buying as my next upgrade.

He has 2 2.8GHz processors in that system. That most definately beats a Athlon64 3400+.

He also has a Quadro FX 3400 video card. Think of it this way, the Quadro FX 3000 is based on the 5900 GPU. So yah, I'd say it is better.

Your processor may beat his 2.8GHz single CPU, but it definately doesn't beat the X800 in it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Trigasnip has a 64 bit machine, therefore beating all of ya

    Right?

Unless you are using Windows XP 64bit edition running 64bit graphics drivers with 64bit games, then not damn likely... besides, on my rig, the Opteron 250 processor itself is 64bit capable as well, and faster than the Athlon64 3400+ to boot per processor.
