    if your local domain: = project-a.nl (by default in port 80)

    ****************************************
    Your php.ini =

    [mail function]
    ; For Win32 only.
    SMTP=localhost

    ; For Win32 only.
    sendmail_from=webmaster@project-a.nl
    ****************************************

    ****************************************
    Your SMTP server (Argosoft mail server)

    Localhost = project-a.nl (work in ports 25/110 by default)

    Create two users:

    webmaster@project-a.nl
    info@project-a.nl
    ****************************************

    Then you can mail with
    <?php
    mail('where@to.com', 'subject', 'message', "From: where@from.com\r\n");

    If that won't work: try put in this in your php.ini for debugging:
    ****************************************
    error_reporting=E_ALL
    display_errors=On
    display_startup_errors=On
    ****************************************

    sendmail_from = me@example.com change to
    sendmail_from = you@yourserver.com // instead of localhost, when you get a domain name you can change the domain name to yourserver. You can try QK SMTP Server, it is cheap about $20. I am using this and it is OK. Easy to setup.

    your local domain is localhost. If you want to make your own server, in window it has it own software. You can make it like youserver.whatever it is. I tried in Windows Server 2003 but i don't know if it is in Windows XP. You can setup the IIS 6 (Internet Information Service) in the Add and Remove Opponents. This is a Webserver from Windows XP, automatic support SMTP Server.

    yeah i figured that out :P thx tho, if you look up i have a new question :P

    also this is what set in both php-ini-recommended and php-ini-dist
    PHP Code:
    [mail function]
    SMTP localhost
    smtp_port
    25
    sendmail_from
    = [email]webmaster@hav0c.servehttp.com[/email
    hav0c.servehttp.com is an IP redirect to my mailserver computer
    also i get this error when i run my script
    PHP Code:
    Warningmail(); "sendmail_from" not set in php.ini or custom "From:" header missing in c:\webroot\account\mail.php on line 63
    can someone please tell me what php.ini file i edit? once again im using php4 zippackage, i dont think i have a php.ini file in my windows root directory, do i just rename it to php.ini and drop it in my windows folder? thx

    UPDATE!!!

    Got it working guys, but when the person recieves the e-mail it says from server@localhost ????? How do i change this e-mail address, do i have to set somthing up in argosoft mailserver? if so where do i click to edit mailing accounts?

    I know theres a lot of questions to answer here, but please take the time to help me Thank you all for quick responses and help.

    the vf.shawcable.net is your service that you are using. Just leave it for localhost or you can use the ip loop back which is 127.0.0.1 the same with localhost. When you setting up the DNS Service, I think you put it localhost, i am not sure if the DNS Service automatic link to localhost, may be. If you are using cable, your ip address will always the same so this is an easy way to set up the domain name, you can try this domain name service for free. http://www.yourdomain.co.nr register the Basic User.

    You don't have to use the email address it given. I did try and i put my yahoo email address and it works.

    Here is the code:

    // index.php
    <form action="email.php" method="POST">
    Email: <input type="text" name="email"><br>
    Subject: <input type="text" name="subject"><br>
    Comment: <br><textarea name="comment" width="25%" rows="3"></textarea><br>
    <input type="submit" value="Submit">
    </form>

    // These line are in the email.php, you must make a form in the
    index.php file to access this email function
    <?php
    if(mail($email, $subject, $comment))
    {
    echo "Mail sent.<br>";
    } else
    {
    echo "Mail Send Failed.<br>";
    }

    // in php.ini set sendmail_from = you@yahoo.com
    // or sendmail_from = you@domainname.co.nr this domain name is free so it is automatic link to your ip.
    ?>

    You have to setup a SMTP server to be able to send the email.

    That's not a setting in the mail server but a setting in hotmail, because a lot of spam comes form free DNS-redirects.
