    any good directX resorses?

are there any good tuts or boods on directX? i have read one tutoral on ultimutegameprograming.com, and i am deeply confused about directX. i have done some simple stuff in open gl, and feel confertable makeing lights, polygons coloring things and rotating them, but id like to get into directX. also, my compiler(VC++6.0) dosent compile some examples. on this tut (Matrices) wont compile, it comes up with this(the ones before compile, and i do have the SDK):
    Code:
    --------------------Configuration: D3DMatices - Win32 Release--------------------
    Compiling...
    D3DMatices.cpp
    Linking...
    d3dx9.lib(cpudetect.obj) : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol ___security_cookie
    d3dx9.lib(ssefasttable.obj) : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol ___security_cookie
    d3dx9.lib(d3dxmathx3d.obj) : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol ___security_cookie
    d3dx9.lib(cpudetect.obj) : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol @__security_check_cookie@4
    d3dx9.lib(ssefasttable.obj) : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol @__security_check_cookie@4
    d3dx9.lib(d3dxmathx3d.obj) : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol @__security_check_cookie@4
    Release/D3DMatices.exe : fatal error LNK1120: 2 unresolved externals
    Error executing link.exe.

    D3DMatices.exe - 7 error(s), 0 warning(s)
and then, it wont compile things off and on (mostly wont) dose anyone know whats wrong? thanks,
    ~metalhead

For ALL your Game Development tutorial needs I suggest going to gamedev.net. But please don't ask any noob questions or you will be flamed. There are Many Great books on directX. Check the links on that site. Good Luck.

If you're using the Fall update and haven't replaced
the libs and dll found in the extras for VS6, then you will
    have errors forever and always.
If you're NOT making great games
    you belong in an institute:

thanks, but now it says it cant find #include<d3dx9.h> -_-

also, im having problems with VC++ anyway. like more than half the time, the linker will hang, and on the output window it just sits at "Linking...". i have controll over the rest of the program, but it wont let me exit or stop the build, so i have to go into the taskman and stop MSDEV.exe to get it to exit. also, if i have errors with th eprogram, it will hang just like what it dose with the linker after it displays all the errors.... yes, i have tryed to re-install it, but still no-go. can anyone help?

I've been using DirectX at uni with VC++ 6, whenever you open a project you have to tell the complier where the DXSDK is.

Under Tools -> Options > [tab] Directories -> under include add DXSDK\include and under library add DXSDK\Lib.

    Hope this helps
