There is a place online that has some sort of competition for this, i cant remeber the site off hand but what would happen is a community would sign up to particpate then give the link to all its members with a program that will count all the key strokes made by the computer and send them to the server and everyone in the community keystrokes are added together. Only thing is there is a large issue of privacy around it because i dont think no one knows if the information is secure and if it only logs the number of keystrokes and not what keys.

I'm not sure of the exact code, but anything to do with clicking strongly hints JavaScript with the button having an onClick="counter()" style even, where the counter method simply gets a variables and adds 1 to it.

I would do a google search on basic javascript tutorials as this looks like all you need to know is basic syntax on how to set up what I have said.
