    Recording game action

    Hi guys!

Just wondering if there's a way to record part of the game while playing it (e.g. unreal, far cry, whatever) in mov or avi format, so that later you can just watch the replay. I guess you should be able to do it the same way as Buzz records tutorials but how would I go about it? Thanks!!!

    Vic

There's GameCam, that's my favourite. Encodes directly to avi I think, and the loss of performance isnt very high, with lots of features compared to fraps.

I've used a few and from what ive experienced fraps has been the best and records smoothly on games that require higher end systems.

how fast of a machine do you have to have to record a game? I mean... doesn't the game itself take up alot of the processing power?

I have a P3 866Mhz. Would I be able to record something like CS:S on it?

From what ive found it mainly depends on how much ram you have, with fraps you have the ability to capture at the full size or half size but mainly if you have enough ram extra while the games running it should be fine. The best way to find out would be to download the trial of the programs mentioned and give it a test.

I've tried out Game Cam on my P IV 3GHz and it recorded far cry pretty good (I had to run far cry on low level video setting though)
