    Stake to a wall

    Does anyone think that the painkiller stake is possible in UT2004?

    I want to shoot a stake that kills the player/bot, then the body(ragdoll) is stuck to the stake by the closest bone. The body then flies along with the stake untill it hits a wall/floor and is pinned there. Oh, and it must work mp.

    Anyone tried this?

    The chaos ut crossbow has something similar. When you fire an arrow at someones head it will keep going and stick their head to a wall. Hope that helps.

    I've had a peek at their code, but it just attaches a head mesh to the bolt and sticks it to a wall.

    I want to grab the ragdoll and take it to the wall while hanging onto one of its bones.

    I'll have a mess about. I think this would be a fun weapon.

    Hmm, use the location damage to check which bone the damage from the stake was applied to, then somehow make that bone move against the stake (almost like the dead green ghost, when the bodies disappear), and stop at some distance...

    Dont know the code for it... yet.

    OK, Thanks

    Ive managed to get the stake stuck into the guy, and his ragdoll hanging from the wall, so you can shoot it around but its stuck to the wall with the stake.( bloody funny)

    Just need to have a smooth movement from the guys position to the trace hitlocation on the wall.

    which is the best way of moving a pawn to a hitlocation?

    I'll make a video of the guy hanging there

    Ok,

    Ive managed to get it to work.

    Ive used an axe to start with.

    It sticks into him, he's then thrown backwards to the wall or floor depending on the angle of the throw.

    Then he dangles there pinned to the wall/floor.

    Had great fun learning tick and vectors. At one point I got the ragdoll to fly around the room bouncing off walls like a burst balloon.

    Don't think everyone will see the same thing in a network game but it should be funny.

    I'll post a movie this weekend.
