exactly 28 minutes ... i was kinda finished at around 20 minutes, but then i decided that was too short for the video, and noodled it a bit more. Added the treeline, the right land mass, and the straws in the water

Interesting thread concept. Good, though. I think some of the best work comes from just going for it and not stopping to worry about the result.

I usually use Photoshop (I love it!), but my contribution was done in --drumroll-- MS Paint. Yup. Hehhehe. Just over one hour.

Bright colors? Oh, yeah I like them. How could you ever tell?

Hey, I see you guys talking about Corel Painter a lot (BTW, great job with it, Swoop!). As I said, I use Photoshop and love it, but I have also wondered about Painter. What are the strong points of Painter? Anything you can do with it that you can't do with Photoshop?

First off great job in paint there.. pretty good head you made there

Well painter is kinda of a unique program for now. What painter in essence tries to do is emulate the feel, look ect of real life painting mediums.
Thus depending on settings you can choose to have one stroke affect the colors beneath on the cancas.. have the canvas have a texture which affects the way paint is applied.
Apart from the enormous amount of tools ect, painter has some cool features like the rotate canvas on the fly option. Where you can rotate you image on the fly just like you can with paper in the real world. Also the changing of brush size on the fly is pretty cool

All in all a pretty good program, a bit more specificly designed to paint images, where as photoshop is more all round, and based on photo manipulation

You can try out Corel Painter IX free for 30 days.. just grab the trail of the corel homepage...

You have to log in to download the demo? Oh well, I'll give it a shot. Thanks. That rotate canvas deal does sound handy, especially in conjunction with a tablet. Sometimes it is hard to draw in all directions.

What about Corel DRAW? Isn't that a vector-based drawing program, like Illustrator?

    Yes, Corel Draw is Vector-based.

Does anyone here use Corel Photopaint?
