    Question secure sites

i have a home network and i could go to any site but now for some reason i can't go to somesites like schwab.com and others. i have checked cookies and many other settings and nothing works. the funny part is one computer can connect and one can't. all the settings for internet explorer are the same on each computer. anyone got a solution.

    thanks

do you have Norton Internet Security installed?
    What OS are you running?
    Any firewalls installed?
How is your network setup? Switch? Router? Hub? Proxy?

Norton can stop some pages for no apparent reason.
Try disabling it, if you have it.

If you have any more info on your network, than that would be great.

censorship settings in 'internet explorer' under 'internet options'?

There is a selection there that says something along the lines of 'allow users to see pages that have not been censored'

I have norwegian version of xp, so I don't know what it would say exactly, but it's under internet options, on the same row of tabs as 'security'

Maybe this will help. I know it's in norwegian, but you might be able to figure out where the buttons are with this?

Sounds like some kind of censoring, firewall or dns problem.....

You have a built in firewall in WinXP too, goto:
Start and right click on My Network Places > right click on your LAN connection(the one that you get internett connection through) and goto Advanced Tab. If Internet Connection Firewall is selected, try to unselect it and try to see if it helps.
This is just a shot in the dark, and shouldn't really have anyting to say for regular internet browsing. But I think I've heard about someone having problem with this one After all, if you are behind another firewall you dont need this built in one, and it su... if you ask me

If you want to check out chrleon's advice go to: Tools > Content Tab > Content Advisor ...and check your settings there.

PS: I'm from Norway too, but I got an english version of IE

cdnash41: You will have to trust me on this one. The following article is titled to resolve MSN issues, but despite that it can be used to fix about 90% of the problems with IE6 in Windows XP.

Let me now if you have any luck with it.
