    Unhappy Mysql: Table 'mysql.host' doesn't exist

    after starting the mysql service the traffic light is green for a few secs but than turns red.
    my log says:
    030501 18:46:23 InnoDB: Started
    030501 18:46:23 Fatal error: Can't open privilege tables: Table 'mysql.host' doesn't exist
    030501 18:46:23 Aborting
    (os is xp and i am using apache server)

    Seems like something went terribly wrong while installing MySQL... the table your log refers to is a system table, and it's probably missing... so the only advice i can give you at this moment is reinstall and try again

    while uninstalling i got an error: "the Uninst.isu is bad and the uninstall process will abort". so i remove the mysql service and delet the 'mysql dir'. after installing again - i got the same error as above.

    Did you delete the MySQL-db?
    That DB contains users and information it needs to run.

    My guess is that you somehow deleted it, I did it once, and I just had to reinstall it..

    reinstall doesn't work.
    do you know the name and place of the db?

    If you deleted the db, no.

    Try checking www.mysql.com for known issues with your release.
