i think the last 20 minutes was interesting about the forums. i cannot remember the last time i looked in
the WIP only the scots man mentioned the star trek project, it wouldn't have even crossed my mind.

i know nelson mentioned his (somewhat) dislike for the current format, but merging some areas might clean things up?
forums that get one post a month could be merged with similar ones.

"Collaborative Work" might be a new sub forum? some of the older members that are advanced might like to try something
with others that specialise in other areas.

i think it would be a pity to see 3dbuzz disappear. even when i was in college most of my learning came from here.
i'd promote 3dbuzz when i could, but most people don't listen.

I haven't had the chance to listen in on the radio show just yet, but I do like the idea of restructuring the forums a bit. For one, I like the idea of structuring the help sections as: Modeling, Rendering, Animation, etc, rather than the current Max and Maya. I believe it would better promote participation, as someone like myself who understands the principles would be more apt to answer say a general modeling question regardless of software used. If said question was asked with the current setup, I'm likely to not see it if asked in the Maya section, as I don't use Maya. Outta sight, outta mind. On the flip side, I actually have a Blender rigging question, but there is no section for that, so I'm having to take my question elsewhere. Generalizing the help sections will bring the community closer, and welcome questions for all walks of (software) life.

A finished work section with a system for plugging works to the front page would also be a plus. It's pretty much a standard modeled after CGTalk these days. People get excited at the prospect of their hard work being spotlit. Side note, anyone remember the "Featured Member" articles way back when? I loved those! I was nominated for it once, but turned it down because I had zero confidence in my ability. lol
