    My Multiplayer RPG in Progress

    Hello Everyone I have been working on a Multiplayer RPG for a while now, finished with most of the basic gameplay features. I am not a modeler but a programmer so no models are of my own creation. If you want to support the project you can like my vidoes

    Here's my channel

    Update 15 - Feb 26 2014 - NEW!!

    Small update. Finished the social system and cross server grouping. Players can now group with players from other zone servers. Group and social systems are handled separate server. Here is a list of all the updates:

    * Social System (Friends)
    * Cross Server Groups (Able to group with players from other zone servers)
    * Optimized server
    * Improved Server Stability

    Update 14 - Jan 08 2014

    Not much in this update except the world to world system. The way the world to world system works is each zone gets its own server and players have to go through a portal or doorway to enter other zones. There is so seamless zone transition, yet, and I do not have any plans for them at the moment but that is something for the future. I am currently working on the guild feature and other small stuffs which I haven't added yet like gears and so forth will be available in the next update.

    Update 13 - Jan 08 2014

    This video shows the new collision system which uses the DigitalRune physics library. The game itself is not physics based at the moment so the server uses only the collision system. I am also working on my own collision system. I also added a basic GM feature. Here is a detailed list of all the changes:

    * Server Collision System
    * New Icons
    * Improved mini-map system
    * GM System

    I haven't watched all your videos, so if this is answered in them, forgive me for asking it here

    1 - What database are you using for storage?

    2 - Are you using Photon or SmartFox for networking?

    And of course, most importantly: #3 - How did you get so much done so quickly? Please post a tutorial on finding time to work on such projects

    Wow,looking really nice. I especially like the Quest Info menu
    Keep at it
    Programms: 3ds Max,Photoshop CS5,UDK (on a level I'd rather not mention,because I am still a beginner) and in the future (hopefully) ZBrush,

    First of all, thanks everyone for commenting. Here's your answer

    #1- I'm just using simple SQL and XML for storage for now. Thinking of learning RavebDB since its FREE for opensource. However, I intend to publish this game as an opensource project, I will most likely use RavenDB if i intend to release it as a commercial game(i dont have any intention now )

    #2- I'm currently using SmartFox(Basic), so it can only support 20 players now but I limited the numbers to 10 for now. Because I havent worked on optimizing networking on my game yet. However, I will most likely(definitely?) use Photon for my project. I'm learning Photon now and its an awesome experience. also it supports 100 players for free.

    #3- I learned C++ when I was 18 since then I programmed a lot in C++, even made my own game engine(2D) then I was working on a 3D Engine using Direct3D. So, I learned alot about game programming. SO it was easy for me to implement my game logic and learning C#. Most importantly, I wouldn't have chosen Unity for my game if I didnt see 3D Buzz's Unity Tutorials. For that I owe 3D Buzz a grand THANKS!

    Always plan whatever logic your designing before you implement it. The most time I spent implementing is the QuestManager, since it involved all the gameObjects in consideration. various quest types/rewards/npc/etc. I started it without any plan but it was kinda hard without knowing what the heck im going to do next. I always kinda had a plan lol before I started anything, it made the job kinda easier. I always had MSDN & Unity Scripting Ref handy . Besides,Organizing Codes(taking the "class" approach), "Reuse and avoid Rewriting", when I wrote codes. Still i have to model tons of models for my game. Since, I'm not an awesome modeler(i can model ok) well. Next thing I want to add is "Photoshop is Awesome" is an awesome tool to make great GUIs. Thats pretty much what I did. Also, this is my 1st Unity Game(well, this is my 1st 3D game I spent lot of time with)

    I was going to keep this short but it kept growing haha...Any other questions feel free to ask

    Mainly because I'm curious, what are you modeling the game 'after'? Is there a particular game you're using as a 'reference', or a series of games, or are you attempting to make something unique?

    Any idea where you'll be going after the models (Since apparently that's where the current priority lies, according to the end of the last video)?

    Given that I'm not in the MMO class, I haven't a clue where they're at in it, or what they're currently doing - or what they've already done... so I was curious if you had an 'inspiration' outside of the Crew, or if you're mostly following the videos and adding spice.

    How did you approach the character statistics and advancement systems? If you have done so yet. It's an interesting area and I'd like to hear another point of view on the issue, especially from another programmer such as yourself.
