I have decided to enter this picture for the contest:

This picture is what I think of as winter. It reminds me of winters in Wisconsin with my grandmother, watching the snow fall and seeing the beautiful cardinals fly around her yard (they were her favorite).

I took this picture with my Sony SteadyShot 5.1 Mega Pixel digital camera. I used the "action" setting to capture the falling snow. I took it off my balcony.

I might have a new photo soon. Theres suppose to be a snowpocalypse here in Indiana.

Don't worry. I have a cabinet full of cans of cold ravioli. I'll survive.

If pipes freeze, I'll eat snow.

Heat? I'm so hot I melt snow.

Stay away from the yellow snow! It does NOT taste lemony like you would think!!

I'm just going through all the photos that I took, checking them twice and trying to decide which to go with. Soon, I have them converted from RAW to JPG so now it's decide and shrink it down to size to post! I better have that all done for tomorrow!
For me, happiness is learning new things.

Well, I'm trying to decide between a few before the deadline...

    (click for larger)

I took the following two just as a heavy snowstorm was clearing up and a couple of little holes opened up in the sky.The second one looks like a vignette has been added, but I got the effect from placing my hand around the hood I have on my 55-250IS lens. Plus the dark clouds in contrast to the hole were the sun shining on the mountaintop helped .

I'll figure out which one before the deadline!

Wow, all of them look great MrVH. Suddenly I feel my entry is a lot worse than a few minutes ago. :-D At first sight I liked the "holes in sky" but they look a little bit out of focus or is it just me? The yellow sign is great contrast and more original than the others (winter wonderland this way). Then the nicely lit mountains look great. so I would go with them or the sign.

    Here is my entry:

I took it in Brno which is a city in Czech Republic where I study. I edited the brightness a little bit in photoshop. The camera is Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX01 with a tripod. (nothing fancy really).

Oh man! Killer entries guys!!! MrVH, it's a tough call as all the photos you posted are great....but I think I'm going with either the SUV, or the trail (first two). Ray, your entry is beautiful. That golden glow is so wintery, but it stands out next to the standard white from most of the other entries.

    MrVH:
The red leaves or the yellow sign. I love color and those both make a bold statement. The other ones are nice, but those two actually stand out.

That's beautiful. I'm going to want a high-res copy to use for a desktop pattern.

Man, people brought the skill today! Fantastic entries!
