What are the rules?
No photoshopping allowed, besides cropping and changing a picture to B&W or Sepia, and making panoramas.
Post production editing is allowed. The editing done should be global, such as contrast, brightness, or overal tonal balancing (i.e. no sponge/dodge/burn, no brushes, vignetting, etc). Filters are prohibited. Any global editing should be used only to enhance the features that were captured in the shot to begin with. The only exception is converting to B&W or sepia.
Tell us what you did, unless it's staring us right in the face, in which case you probably shouldn't have done it ^^
Tell a bit about your image, and how you approached taking it.
What equipment do I need?
Well, as long as it can capture light and produce an image you can share with others, be it a analog camera, digital camera or maybe a cellphone camera, you are good to go.
How do we submit the pictures?
To make things easier for all of us, the kind and superior being that is mr_charism has supplied a 3dbuzz photo contest script that magically makes your images 3dbuzz-forum-friendly! I suggest using that, but you are of course free to choose any imagehost you like!
For those that intend to use the magic that mr_charisma conjured, the link is http://www.20papercups.net/image_upload
The theme
As decided by mr_charisma, it's Shoot it like you're selling it!
The purpose of this contest is to sell something. It's easier to describe with an example.. Take Coca-Cola. When they market coke, they don't simply take a photo of a bottle in a light tent and slap it on a page in a magazine. At least in Australia, coke is marketted by attaching it to this idea of a care-free youth-summer-beach lifestyle. So, you might have a bottle of coke half buried in sand on some perfect beach, with people in the background playing with a beach ball or coming in after a surf. Another example is expensive scotch, which tries to latch onto this idea of sophistication.
The goal of this contest is to take a single photo that sells something. It could be a product, like the examples above, places, experiences, ideas, or anything else that could do with some marketting. Again, if you choose a product, you should be trying to tell a story about what that product represents, not just taking a perfectly lit photo of the product itself. We should be able to tell what you are selling, and the angle you are taking to sell it.
Rule Amendment
1. No Photoshop. So no putting text with slogans or whatever over the photo. If you want text to go with your photo, add a caption in the text of your post.
2. If you want to make up a product, fine. So boobs in a can, provided you aren't breaking site rules, would be fine. No photoshopping your final image though.
3. Regarding sex, nudity, and porn. The forum has specific rules about this. Obey the 3DBuzz forum rules and there won't be any problems. Given the fuss that was made in a previous contest over the topic of love, I am reluctant to place any extra restrictions on entries. Basically, if you are genuinely unsure whether your entry breaks the forum rules, then you should probably find something else.
