    Assume JavaScript is enabled?

I'm updating a website and I am looking at exclusively making it run using AJAX. For this to work though, everyone visiting the website will need to have JavaScript enabled....otherwise the website will be broken.

Is it a bad idea to make the entire site run on AJAX? or is it a fair assumption that most (>80%) of people will have JavaScript enabled in their browser?

It is fair to assume that Javascript is enabled. Just be wary of making a website Ajaxy for the sake of it. Things to consider?

Does the back button still work?
Is it possible to get a direct link to a page?
Are you giving the user feedback as to whether something is loading in the background?
    etc.
