Importing Mental Ray Shaders.. Something is wrong...

Good afternoon fellas I have been working in Maya and mental ray. There is literally nothing to this scene besides 4 walls and a floor. I have been creating some common mental ray shaders for myself. The idea was to make a library of shaders I commonly used and export them. This way when I started a project I could just import all the shaders I commonly use.

The problem is that when I import the shaders they come in with a red background behind the text. I have no idea what this means. The shaders point to their respective texture maps correctly, but I am weary to keep going without knowing what this red background means.

    example:

    Hi Terry

This is maya telling you that the mentalray shader is not enabled i.e wont render because you don't have it selected as your renderer.

Go to the render globals and enable this i would imagine it is currently set to software. For some reason when you start maya it automatically sets the renderer to software.

As soon as you do this the red background should dissapear

    Hope this helps
