Is there a Wish list for upcomming Houdini Videos or next DVD's - perhaps with a Poll?

    Or should it post here

    Thanks

There's no official poll or wishlist for upcoming Houdini videos. You're always more than welcome to post ideas and requests. The only thing I can promise is that I'll read them, of course, but it can be helpful to know the direction people are interested in when planning new training DVDs.

    Cheers,
    Steve

Okay thanks, perhaps other can also post what they think:

My wish is like Houdini TD Vollume I and II:

    Live Action and CG
How to take your Houdini 3D models and incorporate them seamlessly into a Live Action video.

    - Basic Motion Tracking Footage with Syntheyes, Boujou etc. and bring into Houdini
    - Adding 3D Objects and realistic Lights (the results from HDRI DVD) to Scene that work
    - Rendering out the Different Passes
    - In Depth Compositing with Combustion or After Effects all togehter

I ask for this, because for Houdini there is no such Video for the hole pipeline on all Houdinis learning resources. TD Vollume I and II show this for full CG, but it's quite different with live footage.

Here is an overview example for Maya, this original course is about 2 1/2 Hours:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=maGLn18B9uI

Its can be a simple scene shot but the final must look realistic:

My Suggestion: A Bridge Collapse over a river
A live Footage from a River and a CG Collapse Bridge
    http://www.sidefx.com/images/stories...e_collapse.mov

So you can show: Using the The Bridge Asset, DOPs, particle systems, procedural VEX shader, VOPs and the result of HDRI Shader DVD in Action.

    So, hope for this.

Something I'd love to see is a video on doing crowd and swarm sims using chops driven fuzzy logic, with some sort of system to dynamically choose between varying mesh resolutions based on the objects screen space. Yes. I want Houdini to emulate Massive, minus the crashing part, and the 20k price tag. This is a wish list, right?

    Hey,

    1.
I'd like to see a tutorial about Live/CGI integration, too.

    2.
    Another thing I'd love could be a "standard-fx strategies"-series.
E.g. one tutorial could be about different implementations of explosions (discussing each cons and pros)

    3.
A animation series that rounds up the rigging dvds.

    4.
A successor of the 'technical effects' dvd.

    5.
    A intermediate follow-up to Fasttrack.

    Cheers

I really want a Live/CGI series as well!!!!!

I feel like I am learning all these cool CGI techniques, but I could never use them for anything but a pure CGI animation.

And I'm getting a 1080 24p video camera this january...

    hi,
I think an advanced fluids dvd could be a good idea , or small series of howto tutorials about how to set up and basic use of houdini combined with external tools like the ocean toolkit, renderman ,bullet RBD solver, clusterthis tool ...etc.

I really don't get all the calls for live action / cg integration. That would be best covered in any general lighting / comp video. Mastering Houdini can be best served by learning the building blocks behind it then you can solve anything.

A target of more Dops / Vops videos would be top of my wish list !
