Question Is DOCTYPE XHTML 1.0 better than HTML 4.01 ?

I've been asked to update the company web server. It currently uses HTML 4.01 Transitional but I'm wondering if I should update everything to XHTML 1.0 Transitional.

Are there any good reasons why I should? What advantages are there when using XHTML 1.0?

I know that if I suggest this change they will ask me why should we update but I don't know any good reasons why one would want to move from HTML 4.01 to XHTML 1.0.

Transitional HTML or XHTML? Either way, Strict is what you should be aiming for.

    Some inspiration:

Do they speak programmerish? No. Use magic words, such as "revolutionary", "groundbreaking", "futuristic", "prodigious"
