    3d max crashing

    ok im using max 5, when i save sometimes it crashes, other times it crashes for no reason, but its uaually when im uvw mapping, so how do i fix this?

    it might not have crashed, it may just be taking its time... leave it 10 mins and see if anything happens

    How much RAM do you have? If you have below the minimum required 256 than its just a case of low memory.You could always try to re-install max and hope for the better. Works for me (most of the time ) .

    well crash, as in it just closes itself... i have 512m ram, i might have found the problem tho, might have been the virus checker, as ive disabled it i havent crashed yet so hopefully that was it

    video card? maybe. i have the same problem. but my computer is a peice of shit, so no reason for ur crashes to be the same as mine.

    oh, Windows 98, & ME...their both crap for max.

    im using win xp, hasnt crashed since i posted this, mustve felt the vibes

    Most common causes

    Old video drivers/card, try switching display modes.

    Norton Antivirus turn it off if you can this is an issues that Norton has been working to fix... not 3ds Max's fault.

    Bad/Cheap ram... pay the extra few buck to get the certified stuff..

    Plugin gluttony. watch those plugins there is a reason that a lot of them are free...
