you can even write small games with it. it's nice to play around with, at least if you like this flash-stuff. personally, i don't like it, but a friend of mine wrote some nice minigames using it. however, i wouldn't compare this to a real programming language, it's more similar to mel, although not quite that powerful.

    OpenGl ?

I find the direct x api to be horrible for easy of coding and I would suggest opengl as dev-c++ supports this properly, and if you look under multimedia project, it can generate alot of the code you need for you. To run direct x under dev-c++ there is a modified libary that solves alot of errors with the standard one but I'm not to sure where it is. A good article on how to solve this is here gamedev , but I would get a version of Visual C++.net. Will solve alot of problems and fustration. Hope this helps,

Ok, then what of the .net thing? I was reading the basics faq, and...

I have bloodshed, and it has been said that dev-c++ is good for opengl. In the basics faq I learned about ms visual c++ .net express 2005, which comes with the direct x sdk. it takes a gig, but ive got the room. I'm wondering I guess two things, guys.

Which is really the superior? OpenGl or DirectX? Both in programmability and results? :results may vary: lol

And is the visual c++ 2005 sdk worth the gigabyte? Like, at the site it reads that .net provides drag and drop, which I assume is meant in the traditional sense, making robust aplications a breeze when you know what you're doing.

K everybody, I'll check back soon. Thanks. This is going to be so fun.
