A friend of mine had the same problems :D. I had more luck, I bought Hl² through Steam and started downloading Hl² and after i have downloaded it took me only a few minutes and i was able to play.

I played dm_lockdown online and there were the same problem. Is this just in DM Maps oder in Cs maps, too?

I don`t like Doom3 as much as Hl2. I played the old hl many times. I already bought Hl2 Gold Edition, so not enough money für D3

The GT is better because LE has only 12 Pipelines, i think, but its possible to unlock 4 pipelines. But GT will work much longer, an unlocked LE could break down after some months.

Buy the 6800 from nvidia or X800 from ATI.
But it depents on the games you want to play. Doom3 is optimized for GC from Nvidia and Half-Life² for Ati`s GC.
