Finally finished creating the curve network. With the holidays and an 18 month old, I don't have the time I would like to spend on this. But I'm determined to see it through to the end. :)

Finally had a chance to get some work done on this.

I'm actually going to convert the curves to poly edges once I'm done. You can't snap to NURBS curves in Blendter, but you can snap to edges.
Only two more videos laying out the curve network, then I can start creating the poly mesh.

I started working on the Murcielago. It is slow going at first working with NURBS curves in Blender, but I'm getting the hang of it and speed is picking up. Right now I'm about half way through the...
So far I like working with Blender. Once you get used to the interface, and get to know some of the hotkeys, it is fairly easy to work with. There were some times that I had to search for...
Finished the Socom Model from Maya Advanced Modeling. Here are the final images:

Up next is the Murcielago.
Done with the LAM Unit. Only one more video to go, and I will be done with this model.

Almost done with the LAM Unit. I only have two more videos for this model, then I will probably move on to the Murcielago. :)

More work done on the LAM Unit. There are some normal issues, but I will worry about those when I finish building the LAM, and apply the mirror modifier.

So I finally got through the first LAM Unit video. It is looking a little rough, but there are still 3 videos left covering the LAM Unit.

Finally got a little bit of work done yesterday. I'll upload an image soon. Still haven't decided if I will add textures, or just do the modeling like in the videos.
I actually have blender specific training, but they mostly cover the common modeling tools. You can do a lot with tools like extrude and inset edges, etc. I wanted to see the more specialized tools...
Sorry for the lack of updates. I have been dealing with a sick kid, and have not had a chance to get any further with the model. Hopefully I can get some more work done soon.
I mostly worked in Maya at the game studio I was at. It has been about 8 years since I did any 3D work. I can't afford Maya, so I started looking at Blender. I really like it so far. It is really...
There isn't any unwrapping sections in the original videos, they are just on modeling. I'm thinking about if I want to do any UV unwrapping or not. If I do any UV unwrapping, I'll have to find some...
Got some more work done this morning.

Sorry for the slow update. Finally had some time to sit and work on this uninterrupted. I got the slide release done.

Finally finished the handle. I like the way it is looking. Enjoying doing this in Blender.

Didn't get as much done as I wanted, but I only have one video left and then I am done with the handle. I'm liking it so far. This is the first time I really play with the crease edge tool. ...
I like that I have having to find Blender equivalent tools to the ones Zak is using in Maya. It is helping me to understand what tools are available in Blender, and how to use them.
Some more work on the handle. Only 2 more videos to go and I will move onto the Side Release.

whitehawk74: Ahh. Still post the work here. I would like to see it.
Started on the handle. Still rough, but I like the way it is looking.

Finished up the rear sight. Starting on the handle next.
