cut faces

Is it possible to cut some faces in one step from 1 vertex to the other one like in that image?
if i use the cut faces -> custom and draw a line from the one to the other vertex its inaccurate and it create a new vertices.
mhh maybe it is possible to youe a snap or somthink like that its snap on the both vertices?

Send a message via ICQ to gdogg2k Send a message via AIM to gdogg2k
maybe your best approach would be
a) check mel scripts at highend3d.com to see if n e thing matches your needs,
b) write your own script....

sorry cant be much help, but try these two options

if you use the split polygon tool, and set the number of magnets to 4-5, you will get a cut like that. It might not be perfect, but you can tweak the vertices a little and get a straight cut.

you may have needed to make the diagnol cut first using split ploygon tool and then use cut faces to make that horizontle cut across. if that is not an option you could just make a diagnolt cut and use point snap/merge vertices to adjust the result. hope that helps.

To get more control of where the cut tool will slice you object you can use the polyCut Input node in the channel box. The Cut Faces Tool uses a starting point (vertex) you define with your first click and an angle defined by your second click. This creates a cut along a plane perpendicular to your current view plane. So for the first point you can type in “ut Plane CenterX, Y, and Z” the absolute values of where exactly the cut starts. If you want this to snap to an existing vertex just copy its values from the Component Editor. For the second point defining the angle of the cut I would make an extreme zoom at the vertex I want this to snap to and enter values for the angle in the channel box until it visually snaps there. The Cut Faces tool because of its nature will always add new vertices even if you position the cut over existing vertices. Just run Merges Vertices command at the end to keep your object as one piece.
