"Spam King" Sanford Wallace was just ordered to pay $711 million in damages in a case about him spamming the hell out of Facebook users. Meanwhile, your idiot friends are still zombie biting you.

While I'm all about stopping professional spammers, I find it amusing that this case revolved around Facebook. At this point, a good 75% of the messages I receive from that damned site are unwanted and annoying. Invites to shit from people I don't know, annoying app pings and all the rest of it. Hell, it's almost like Facebook is designed to send you annoying messages. That's the whole point!

But yeah, anyways, nice work nailin' the Spam King, guys

Wow, did you read the full article on CNN?

Not only is this guy fined $711 Million for spamming on Facebook, but last year he was fined $230 for doing the same thing on MySpace, AND two years before that he was fined $4 million for pop-up ads.

Good hell, you think he would have figured it out already! No wonder they want to charge him with criminal contempt to force him to do jail time!

I never got facebook spam, though I barley use it. I don't think he would ever learn he was labeled the "spam King" since 1991 dedicated to spaming, spywares and other stuff. He has his own company, Cyber Promotion which went down to finance issues. Read it in wikipidia.

I've never even see facebook spam besides the ads or whatever. I haven't recieved any emails or messages, all that crap is on myspace.

If anyone thinks this guy will ever pay even $711 of that $711,000,000 verdict they are delusional.

I am sure he has completely isolated himself from the company he runs (a corporation is considered a separate entity in the eyes of the law, which makes it so that the people that run it are not directly held responsible). I am sure most of his money is in off-shore bank accounts so all he has to do is have the company file for bankruptcy and he will not have to pay a dime. Then set up shop in some "shady" 3rd world country and start this up all over again.
