Modeling tutorial
Back in the summer a couple of people had expressed some interest in one or more modeling tutorial specifically targeted at Houdini. I had mentioned that I would willing to give this a try. Would there still be interest in this? If so, this is sort of what I had in mind:
A spaceship (who doesn't love spaceships?) that not too difficult, with moderate amounts of detail, and then some basic texturing of the model, followed by a simple scene with some cool lighting. The ship would be a triangular alien ship, you know, the kinds of stuff that the gov't has stockpiled over at Area 51, runs on a gravity drive, zips around defying the know laws of physics, that kind of thing*. Something similar to the Foo-fighter that was seen on several X-Files episodes. The modeling would cover the core ship body, plus some external detailing, and the undersides with would have ringed areas for lights and a partial view of the gravity drive. The texturing would cover the main ship and focus on using multiple images to control diffuse color, specularity, and diffuse amount, sort of like what I've been learning on the Enterprise model I'm currently working on. Lighting would include a main scene light (or two) and various lights on the ship, maybe a couple on top, plus some on the bottom of the craft and some additonal glow effects for things like the gravity drive, etc. If people would be interested in this let me know and I'll start to plan for this now, but it will be a couple of weeks before I'd be ready (I want to get my current project finished up first) . *I'm kidding here, for the conspiracy minded among you.

Houdini modeling
I would be extremely interested, and your hard work would be appreciated also. I hope you press on. If there is any way I can help let me know. Did you see the soccer ball modeling tut over at www.sidefx.com? it was well done.

Chuck,
Yeah I did. I haven't had time to watch it yet, but it does look interesting. |

That would be great!
I'm sure a lot of people would benefit. I like what you are doing with Houdini on your blog by doing modeling tutorials from other apps. It would be fun to follow along with your modeling work flow. |

Another statement of interest over here!
![]() I had a go at the badger myself, and got annoyed trying to do the "Maker's Lines" in Houdini... I just need more practice really!

It's a good thing you mention this because I myself have been creating tutorials on youtube. That channel hasn't gone live yet since I've been wanting to created more than 5 before I go live. But don't worry, no competition. I'm doing particle based stuff.
I would like to see your method of teaching, though. I might learn a thing or two.
