Dynamic resolution mesh

Hi Guys

I have a question about a mesh. Is is possible to create a mesh that adds resolution when stretched then. For example the Elastigirl character in The Incredible. Because it is my understanding that Houdini can do almost anything but I would imagine that having a mesh change in another package would be all most imposable.

A quick and dirty approach that comes to my mind would be to add a subdivide operator to a polygon selection/group and control its subdivisions by an expression, that calculates how much the arm is streched. Could be the distance between two controlers on opposite sites of the arm.
But that should be pretty much doable in any other package too.

cheers,
Daniel
