Hello everyone,
I’m new to the forum and a newbie to VFX.
I’m interested in going into VFX compositing and have chosen to learn Nuke, Maya and Python.
Can anyone let me know if these choose are the right ones to make for what I want to do?

I’m a bit confused because every time I browse a new forum, a different software is mentioned (Eg. Mari, Silhouette, PFTrack….).
I want to focus on the right software for VFX compositing.
Is any of this additional software essential for professional use or required on VFX compositing courses?
Thanks.

No photoshopping allowed, besides cropping and changing a picture to B&W or Sepia, and making panoramas.
Post production editing is allowed. The editing done should be global, such as contrast, brightness, or overal tonal balancing (i.e. no sponge/dodge/burn, no brushes, vignetting, etc). Filters are prohibited. Any global editing should be used only to enhance the features that were captured in the shot to begin with. The only exception is converting to B&W or sepia.

Tell us what you did, unless it's staring us right in the face, in which case you probably shouldn't have done it ^^
There was a crowd funded effort to get a popular French Debian book translated to English and its now available.

"Accessible to all, this book teaches the essentials to anyone who wants to become an effective and independent Debian GNU/Linux administrator.

It covers all the topics that a competent Linux administrator should master, from the installation and the update of the system, up to the creation of packages and the compilation of the kernel, but also monitoring, backup and migration, without forgetting advanced topics like SELinux setup to secure services, automated installations, or virtualization with Xen, KVM or LXC."

Hi,
I have not been around for a while, had to go and get busy with other stuff therefore after a good chunk of time as Member Sponsor I vanished... until NOW! :)

I am carving some time out of my 'other life' :) to finally get busy again with Unity, c#, iOS and other bits and bops. Having been away from these tools/tech for a while, after only getting barely warm with it long time ago, there is no better place for a solid recap and new learning material than 3DBuzz.

Of course my initial coming-back time will be spent going over older stuff like Unity Fundamentals and some c# old videos which are available FREE, heck I have them on my HD as they were free downloads... BUT that doesn't mean I didn't feel the urge to sign up again as a Member Sponsor to be part of the family again, and of course to benefit from all the great new content 3dBuzz has been able to release while I was away!

Waiting for my renewed Membership to be approved then I'll see you inside guys, I am hoping for a couple of months of hard work with 3DBuzz content before I'll have to stop again for 3 weeks... but after that I will be hard back at work
learning/producing hopefully for looooooooong time, loooong loooong time :)

I am told that I get my money back, and I will try again to buy validating that there is no error in the log.

They say that it is wise to recognize our mistakes, and maybe I'm wrong to 3DBuzz showing, and I apologize about that, but I understand a little of my despair of not knowing anything about it, maybe here is the detail that need some immediate response.

Thank you all for your comments, and thanks to Zak for the clarification.

I posted in that thread for 3DBuzz defense and told our new member that things might be a little of due to vacation and all. Even said that I am willing to bet on it that this is uncommon and members are first priority for 3DBuzz.

Hey guys,

I thought I would share the last work I have completed with y'all.

It is a scientific visualization of the J. J. Thompson 1897 experiment of discovering the electron (he won the Nobel prize for it in 1906). This piece only shows one of the experiments - the one that proved the magnetic component of the electron. Here is the link:
https://vimeo.com/41931366

Vimeo kinda butchered the resolution but you get the idea.

This link is to a "How I Did It" cut of the above to be used to help market the 3D Lab here at TTU:
https://vimeo.com/41931475. I like this one better personally.

The original impetus to do this was to satisfy a requirement for a Ph.D. level class of the Rhetoric of Scientific Literature. Hope y'all like it. OH! Wear headphones if you have crappy speakers as it has some great bottom end on it.

I was studying with some friends... anyway I left for a short while, then I come back and my friend is all smiling because he says he did something to my computer. Anyway, so then I was like... what did you do? And he got this big grin on his face and he was like... :D and I was like :meh:

Then he says, "Just wait 2 weeks" and that was the only hint he would give me... that and he always carries a USB with a windows pw hack on it. (of course :meh:)

So now I'm trying to figure out... what he might have done... that will only show itself in 2 weeks.

All he would say was, "first you're gonna laugh... then you're gonna get MAD"

so... having learned my lesson (never leave my laptop out, on or off) I'm trying to figure out what he did.

Any ideas? He said it was a prank... so I'm assuming something small. Last time he just rotated my desktop so everything was sideways.

These videos are a part of the Chapter 7 content of the MMO class and are available now for streaming to Member Sponsors currently enrolled in the Unity MMO class. If you're interested in exploring the creation of an MMO using Unity, there there hasn't been a better time to become a 3D Buzz Member Sponsor. I have a few seats open for those who might be considering joining. Just hit me up via PM and let me know!
