I’m a bit confused because every time I browse a new forum, a different software is mentioned (Eg. Mari, Silhouette, PFTrack….).
I want to focus on the right software for VFX compositing.
Is any of this additional software essential for professional use or required on VFX compositing courses?

No photoshopping allowed, besides cropping and changing a picture to B&W or Sepia, and making panoramas.
Post production editing is allowed. The editing done should be global, such as contrast, brightness, or overal tonal balancing (i.e. no sponge/dodge/burn, no brushes, vignetting, etc). Filters are prohibited. Any global editing should be used only to enhance the features that were captured in the shot to begin with. The only exception is converting to B&W or sepia.

Tell us what you did, unless it's staring us right in the face, in which case you probably shouldn't have done it ^^

If you want to, feel free to share your settings and how you arrived at your final photo.

What equipment do I need?

Well, as long as it can capture light and produce an image you can share with others, be it a analog camera, digital camera or maybe a cellphone camera, you are good to go.

How do we submit the pictures?

To make things easier for all of us, the kind and superior being that is mr_charisma has supplied a 3dbuzz photo contest script that magically makes your images 3dbuzz-forum-friendly! I suggest using that, but you are of course free to choose any imagehost you like!

I have not been around for a while, had to go and get busy with other stuff therefore after a good chunk of time as Member Sponsor I vanished... until NOW! :)

I am carving some time out of my 'other life' :) to finally get busy again with Unity, c#, iOS and other bits and bops. Having been away from these tools/tech for a while, after only getting barely warm with it long time ago, there is no better place for a solid recap and new learning material than 3DBuzz.

Of course my initial coming-back time will be spent going over older stuff like Unity Fundamentals and some c# old videos which are available FREE, heck I have them on my HD as they were free downloads... It is a scientific visualization of the J. J. Thompson 1897 experiment of discovering the electron (he won the Nobel prize for it in 1906). This piece only shows one of the experiments - the one that proved the magnetic component of the electron. Here is the link:

Then he says, "Just wait 2 weeks" and that was the only hint he would give me... that and he always carries a USB with a windows pw hack on it. (of course :meh:)

So now I'm trying to figure out... what he might have done... that will only show itself in 2 weeks.

All he would say was, "first you're gonna laugh... then you're gonna get MAD"

so... having learned my lesson (never leave my laptop out, on or off) I'm trying to figure out what he did.

Any ideas? He said it was a prank... so I'm assuming something small.
