    Advanced Minimap Tutorial

Hello all, I am making a tutorial series on how to create an advanced minimap in unity3D. I am recording and encoding videos as we speak and will post them momentarily. You can check it out in my channel or my site

Nice! I saw your earlier tutorials on making a mini map. How is this implementation different? Pro only?

you will see. it is a much better one, and sadly yes, you can fully take advantage of it only if you have pro. but i will be offering an alternative to indie members too, so don't worry

Thanks, I'll watch it tonight. I'm going to have to implement a mini map myself, but I might take a simple approach like draw or render an image from the top view, since I don't have pro. But that's not on the top of my todo-list right now, so hopefully I can take advantage of your non-pro implementation by then

I was wondering though, can I use this system if I have my terrains not starting at 0,0 (0,0 is the centre of my world)? I've managed to make the screenshots/prefabs in this setting, but in game it only loads the planes that have positive values on the axis.

of course you can, that is why I created the offset coordinate. just set the offset coordinate to suite your terrain dimensions and start position.
you don't even have to have the terrain at (0, 0) to take the snapshots, just make sure to adjust your texture names. the only important thing that matters is the actual dimension and has to remain the same(width, length) but you can easily offset other values(start, end position).

Thanks for your reply! What I meant to say is I did indeed make the right snapshots with the proper names, also on negative axis (like "-200--1200.segment"). I have the whole system working as long as I stay inside the positive values. When I cross the 0 border the planes don't load in. I'm probably missing something very obvious here
